Erik Kaarsemaker was taking his 7-year-old son to soccer practice when he saw a car between the fence. “That is very strange, because there are already two posts far in front of the fence where you actually cannot pass through by car.” The driver turned out to be drunk and tried to drive his Golf through the gate that was too narrow.

Drunk
“We went to see if the man was approachable, but then we immediately noticed that he was drunk. He also kept accelerating and could not reverse the car,” says Kaarsemaker. A dangerous situation, because just after the high gate is the football field where thirty children of around seven years old received football training. “We immediately called 112, because you don’t know what a man like that does. Soon he’ll shoot his car onto the field.”

Finally the man came to a stop against the low fence around the football field. “Fortunately he remained calm and was taken by the police not much later.”
The children saw it all happen and were taken to safety by other parents. “They were very impressed. We just downsized it a bit and got back to training quickly.”
