MT, İ.B, SO, E.Ç, KM, SD and KT, who were arrested during the raid on the hotel in Ozanköy, Girne, were brought before the court again today.
Police officer Ali Sergeant at the Narcotics and Smuggling Prevention Directorate said that they carried out an operation on July 26, 2023, upon a tip.
Noting that the suspects were arrested on charges of ‘taking and giving cocaine,’ Sergeant said they raided a hotel operating in Ozanköy.
The police said that suspects SO, KG and E.Ç were found red-handed in room 208 where the suspect Tabakoğlu was staying. The police stated that the suspect İ.B was caught while he was trying to escape from room 207 where he was staying, and the suspects KM and S.D were caught in the same room.
During the search conducted in the two rooms of the hotel, 10 plastic bottles, 12 straws, pieces of nylon and foil paper, and a precision balance believed to have been obtained from the sale of drugs, which were believed to be cocaine-type drug residues, were found on them. Sterling cash was found, he said, with indications.
Noting that the operation lasted until the first light of the morning, the police stated that three of the suspects gave their statements voluntarily; announced that they bought some cocaine from Tabakoğlu for 2 thousand 500 TL.
The police demanded an additional 7 days, saying that the investigation is continuing, that Tabakoğlu is investigating where he obtained the drugs, and that all suspects’ mobile phones will be examined.
The court accepted the request.
