Drug lord wanted in Honduras arrested, her son killed | Abroad

The US government previously offered a reward of five million dollars (4.8 million euros) to each of the three family members, for information that would lead to their arrest. The trio led the Montes Bobadilla gang, which, according to the US, is involved in cocaine smuggling from South America to the United States, violence and corruption. A third son was extradited to the United States in 2017 and sentenced to 37 years in prison.

Since left-wing President Xiomara Castro took office in January, her predecessor Juan Orlando Hernández and former Honduran police chief Juan Bonilla, also known as “El Tigre” (the tiger), have been extradited to the United States for involvement in drug trafficking.
