Yesterday morning, the streets of Salerno were the scene of a high-speed chase which ended with the arrest of a young pusher resident in Pontecagnano Faiano. The agents of the Flying Squad of the Salerno Police Headquarters arrested the boy, born in 2004, in flagrante delicto for possession of narcotic substances for the purpose of dealing and resisting a public official.
The young man, intercepted on board a DS3 during a routine check in the Europa district, ignored the officers’ orders to stop and attempted to escape. The race, which took place on city streets with a high traffic density, put the safety of pedestrians and motorists at risk. The chase ended in via Carnelutti, where the fugitive tried in vain to get rid of the drugs by throwing the wrappers out of the window.
Upon arrest, officers recovered 37 wraps containing cocaine, crack and heroin. The boy, who was also found not to have a driving licence, which he had never obtained, was fined for violating the rules of the highway code. Inside the vehicle, officers also found three mobile phones, two of which were apparently used to manage the network of regular buyers through messaging applications.
During the chase, due to sudden maneuvers and sudden changes in direction, the young man repeatedly damaged the police car chasing him, which is why he was also reported for aggravated damage.
