The drug trafficker Bayron Ruiz Ruiz withdrew his innocence statement last month and pleaded guilty to trafficking cocaine to the United States.
The guilty plea entails a collaboration agreement in other proceedings against other drug lords who have not yet been extradited and others awaiting trial in federal courts in New York. In addition, it favors him not to receive a high sentence for his acts of drug trafficking.
He was linked to several crimes and the landing of narcoavionetas in Olancho and Colón.
Bayron Ruiz, originally from Olancho, was captured in Guatemala on March 20, 2018 and extradited to New York on March 5, 2019.
In May 2019, Ruiz had pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiring to introduce drugs into U.S. territory. The capo will go to the Federal Court on May 5 of this year to receive his sentence.
