Drowning accidents: – Distribution of names after drowning accidents

The name will be released in consultation with the next of kin, police said in a news release.

The police received a report of the accident on Sunday, around 2.20pm. Life-saving first aid was given, but life could not be saved.

Hjelden was found near his boat, which the police have previously said, to NRK. Several emergency services, including an ambulance helicopter, rushed to the accident in Innfjorden in the town of Rauma.

Up until July, 56 people had drowned in Norway this year. That’s two more than at the same time last year, shows Rescue company drowning statistics.

15 people died in drowning accidents in July. Nine of them from recreational boats, all of whom were men, and six over 60 years old.
