The police reported a drowning accident in Sandefjord on Sunday afternoon. One person fell into the water in the transition between the wharf and shore at Framnes’ boat harbour.
The person was seen lying with his head in the water. The person was pulled ashore and cardiopulmonary resuscitation was started.
The patient is a man in his 80s. According to Sandefjords Blad, he was taken to the hospital in Tønsberg for treatment.
– The emergency services arrived quickly at the scene, but it was civilians who contributed with heart and lung rescue at the scene at the very beginning. The police are working on the scene and will interview witnesses to get clarity on what has happened, said Operations Manager in the South East Police District, Kamilla Aardal, to Nettavisen at 4.30pm.
At approximately 16:16, the police reported on Twitter that the person is conscious. The person in question breathes for his own machine.
Sandefjords Blad’s journalist at the scene tells his own newspaper that one person has been taken in an ambulance and is being transported to the helicopter which was nearby.
Two police cars, two fire engines and an ambulance were seen driving through the center of Sandefjord at approximately 15.45 on Sunday afternoon, reported Sandefjords Blad.
At 16.07, an ambulance helicopter was seen over the Framnes area, according to the newspaper.
The extent of the damage is unknown. That’s what Kamilla Aardal, operations manager in the police district, says. The patient has responded positively to CPR.
The person’s state of health is currently unclear. The person has water in his lungs, reports Sandefjords Blad.
