The Rhône prefecture has placed the entire Rhône department and the Metropolis of Lyon on drought yellow alert. Restrictions on the use of water are put in place and several prohibitions ensue. Agents from the French Office for Biodiversity are deployed in the department in order to provide education on these measures and to penalize any infringements.
The list of prohibitions:
– Withdrawals from watercourses and accompanying aquifers for domestic use
– Watering of public or private green spaces during the day from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
– Watering of domestic vegetable gardens during the day, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
– Watering of public or private, natural or artificial sports areas during the day from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
– First filling of private pools
– Washing of vehicles privately at home
– Washing of facades and roofs
– Operation of open circuit fountains and misters
