17th Parachute Engineer Regiment (RPG) by Montauban.
They had to carry out a trivial training mission on the Causse military field, between Castres and Mazamet, in the Tarn. But about thirty of them were the victim of a drop error. It led them to land in a very wooded and difficult to access area on the edge of the site.
An internal investigation
While most of the paratroopers were able to descend from their trees on their own, applying the procedures learned, the incident mobilized a large rescue deployment and in particular the specialized firefighters of the Groupement de reconnaissance et dà © rvention en milieu perileux (Grimp) from Toulouse. .
According to the regional daily, the Montauban regiment will conduct an internal investigation to identify the causes of this improvised tree climbing session.
