– We are obviously disappointed, says Odin’s father Dan Yngve Jacobsen.
Odin André Hagen Jacobsen (18) from Skaun was reported missing by his parents after he did not return home from a city trip to Trondheim in November 2018.
An extensive search for the teenager was launched. The investigation has been going on for four years.
– We had hoped that the state attorney would place more emphasis on our contribution to the investigation and order a new investigation on a number of points. We know to this day what happened to Odin, Jacobsen says.
– By decision of 11 January 2023, the Trøndelag prosecutors dropped the case in which Odin André Hagen Jacobsen has been missing since 18 November 2018. The case was dropped as not pertinent.
This is what the Trøndelag State Prosecutor’s Office wrote in a press release on Wednesday.
Think you ended up in the lake
– Police speculate that Odin is dead. After the examination of the extensive investigative material by the prosecutor, this is the only logical explanation for the failure to find Odin. Prosecutors therefore assume that Odin is no longer alive, they write later in the statement.
They believe the most likely course of events is that Odin ended up overboard on the night of November 18, 2018, where he was last observed at Brattøra Pier 2.
You can appeal the decision
It seems unlikely that he disappeared voluntarily, as key items such as a passport, mobile phone and wallet were left behind at Brattøra Pier 2.
– The fact that there is no sign of life in him during the four years that have passed since his disappearance proves that he is no longer alive.
The case can be appealed to the Attorney General.
– We need to take a tour with our supporters and discuss it, says Dan Yngve Jacobsen.
