Drop in COVID vaccine demand at IMSS and ISSSTE modules raises concerns, despite initial interest

  • IMSS and ISSSTE modules also look empty

Adolfo Favela Cordero, a businessman in the pharmacy sector affiliated with the National Chamber of Commerce (Canaco), pointed out that a considerable decrease in people acquiring the covid vaccine has been perceived, despite the initial interest it generated.

He pointed out that, after the high demand for the marketing of the Pfizer vaccine by private pharmacies, this has been decreasing to the point that very few people now purchase it; “We don’t know why this demand has dropped,” he said.

The interviewee added that even in the modules for free application of the Abdala and Sputnik vaccines that the Health Sector applies, through the IMSS and ISSSTE, these are empty, so this behavior is more attributable to the lack of prevention than to the patent vaccine cost.

He considered that people should not take the culture of prevention lightly, since the holiday period is coming where there is contact with large groups of people, especially if one travels to the beach, so one must be prepared and avoid infections.

Favela Cordero highlighted that in the latest versions of the vaccine it has been possible to reduce the effects of the application of the dose, with cases of people who have developed fever being very rare; “We apply it and give a general check to avoid risks,” she stated.
