Drone that detects landmines earns Ukrainian students a ton

This was reported by Chegg.org, an organization that helps students around the world make their innovations a success.

Accurate up to 2 cm

At the beginning of the war, the student from Kiev went to live in the Ukrainian countryside, to finish high school. There he continued to work on his drone in an air raid shelter. He had been working on the invention for a few years.

The device is capable of detecting mines from the air within two centimeters. In this video Klymenko shows his drone:

Klymenko is still not satisfied. He is now working on an improved drone that can, for example, mark a location with paint. He is also trying to determine the type of mine with the help of artificial intelligence so that the explosives can be safely defused.

Prototypes

More than 7,000 schools and students aged 16 and over from 150 countries were eligible for the so-called Global Student Prize 2022.

Klymenko has already participated in competitions with his so-called Quadcopter Mines Detector and has also won prizes for the drone, patented in his homeland. Previously he had developed prototypes with the financial help of a Finnish civil society organization.
