Drone Strikes Hit Moscow: Latest Updates and Impact on Vnukovo International Airport

Ukrainian drone strike again rained down on the Moscow region, the capital Russia, on Tuesday (1/8) local time. One drone reportedly hit an office building in Moscowwhile another drone was shot down.

As reported AFPTuesday (1/8/2023), an office building in Moscow which was hit by a drone on Tuesday (1/8) local time was also hit by a drone attack on Sunday (30/7) local time.

“Several drones were shot down by air defense systems while trying to fly to Moscow. One (drone) flew into the same tower in the city as last time. The exterior of the building on the 21st floor was damaged,” Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said in a statement via Telegram.

“There is no information on casualties,” he added, noting that emergency services were at the scene.

On Sunday (30/7) local time, Russia reported having shot down a number of drones Ukraine which attacked the Moscow region, damaging two office buildings in the Moskva Citi business district.

Shortly after the drone strike occurred, according to news agency reports TASSVnukovo International Airport in Moscow is temporarily closed.

“Vnukovo is temporarily closed for arrivals and departures, planes diverted to other airports,” the emergency services said in a statement. TASS.

Latest report TASS said the operation of Vnukovo International Airport had returned to normal.
