RIYADH – At least 10 people were injured after a unmanned aircraft or drone loaded with explosives hit King Abdullah Airport in the southern city Saudi Arabia Jazan on Friday local time. This is the statement issued by the Arab Coalition.

“Six Saudi nationals, three Bangladeshis and one Sudanese were injured,” state news agency SPA reported, citing a spokesman for the Arab Coalition citing Al Arabiya, Saturday (9/10/2021).

The attack also caused material damage at the airport and broken windows.

The Arab Coalition later said that it intercepted and destroyed a second drone targeting Jazan airport.

No group has claimed direct responsibility for the attack.

However, since January, the group Houthi have stepped up their attacks on Saudi Arabia. The Yemeni rebel group has launched dozens of cross-border air strikes on Saudi Arabia.

The Iran-backed militia targeted civilian areas and energy facilities in Saudi Arabia with drones loaded with explosives and ballistic missiles.
