The prototype Tesla Semi was filmed in track tests behind the automaker’s plant in Fremont, California. The publication was made by the small YouTube channel Chris Nguyen on the 8th of March.
According to the channel’s owner, the two short videos were recorded by his drone on the last day 5. He also attributed the fact that the videos are short and separate to technical problems with his equipment.
In the video you can see another Tesla model in front of the Semi, apparently filming the truck. According to Chris, it is a Model Y.
It seems likely that the company was simply recording promotional material for its product. However, a YouTube user raised the possibility that they were testing the Convoy Mode, in which the Tesla Semi is programmed to follow another vehicle.
The production of marketing content for the Tesla Semi could mean that the model will finally be launched. After its announcement and prototype presentation in 2017, the Semi was subject to repeated postponements.
Scheduled for 2019, planning shifted to small production started in 2020. With the pandemic, the company’s plans had to change again.
In June 2020, the Reuters had access to an email sent by Elon Musk in which production planning was detailed. The message said it was time to “give volume to production”, is that “the production of batteries and traction systems will take place in Giga Nevada”. Other parts must be produced in factories in other states.

At the time, it was not specified how long the process would take, and Tesla did not comment on the information.

The Tesla truck will have a range of up to 800 km and will be compatible with the Megacharger, offering one in 30 minutes to recharge to cover 640 km.
The acceleration capacity is impressive, going from 0 to 96 km / h in 5 seconds when it is empty. In 2018, an American youtuber witnessed the pulling power of the Semi.
