Drone Attack in Moscow: Mayor Sergey Sobyanin Confirms Incident with Minimal Damage

Debris of a drone fell in Moscow on Friday and the mayor of the city, Sergey Sobyanin, confirmed that a drone attacked the Russian capital.

“An attempt was made to fly over the city with one drone. As a result of air defense work, it was eliminated,” said Sobyanin.

He confirmed that the wreckage of the drone fell in the Karamisheva embankment area. The explosions in this area due to the drone were previously reported by the channels of the “Telegram” platform.

Sobyanin claims that no one was injured and no serious damage was caused as a result of the drone attack.

Before that, Russia closed the airspace over Moscow’s Vnukov Airport on Friday, local media reported.

According to preliminary information, it happened because of a drone, emergency services explained.

Arrival and departure of planes postponed. Some planes have been diverted to other airports.

At Moscow’s Vnukovo and Domodedovo airports, restrictions were temporarily imposed on the arrival and departure of aircraft also on the night of Thursday.
