Dronavia Launches Kronos Parachute Systems for DJI Drones, Meeting EASA C5 Criteria

Dronavia, a French drone accessory manufacturer, has launched a new line of parachute systems called Kronos for several professional DJI drones, including the Inspire 3, Matrice 350, Matrice 300 and Mavic 3 Enterprise. Equipped with the Kronos accessory, these drones will meet C5 criteria, enabling STS-01 unmanned aerial vehicle flights in the Specific category.

Parachute systems

The new range of safety accessories called ‘Kronos’ is the result of more than eight years of research and innovation by Dronavia. These products are specifically designed to help drone operators meet the latest EASA safety standards such as C5 certification, MOC 2512 (M2) and MOC 2511. This means that drones equipped with the Kronos accessory can be used for VLOS flights over populated areas . , according to the operating conditions of the standard scenario STS-01.

The Kronos series includes a variety of Parachute Recovery Systems (PRS) and Flight Termination Systems (FTS), among others. These systems allow pilots to perform complex flight missions, including flights over populated areas. They work together to shut down the engines of a falling drone and slow the fall, greatly reducing the impact energy. This is especially important in severe weather conditions, radio transmission problems, propulsion system malfunctions or loss of GPS signals.

C5 conversion kits

With the C5 accessory kits PRS-FTS-MOC Kronos AD Inspire 3 (376 grams) and PRS-FTS-MOC Kronos AD Matrice 350 (450 grams), DJI Inspire 3 and DJI Matrice 350 operators can convert their drones from the original ones. from class C3 to C5. In addition, the PRS-FTS-MOC Kronos AD Mavic 3 (130 grams) allows you to convert all Mavic 3 Enterprise drones to the C5 class.

Dronavia emphasizes that Kronos systems can be installed in less than 2 minutes. Thanks to the unique take-off detection technology, these lightweight accessories are automatically activated after the drone is launched and do not affect the normal flight performance.

Autonomous activation of Kronos solutions occurs in less than 0.27 seconds when a problem occurs. This is significantly faster than the average activation time of 3 seconds for human activity. As a result, the impact energy of the drone is drastically reduced (21 J compared to over 5000 J without a parachute at 120 m for the Kronos I3 system on the DJI Inspire 3).

Compatibility

In addition to the Inspire 3, Matrice 350/300 and Mavic 3 Dronavia, the new Kronos range will soon also be compatible with DJI’s Matrice 30 drones. The costs are from 1290 to 3000 euros per set.
