DRK is calling for blood donations in the fall

The safe supply of blood products to seriously ill patients can only be achieved if many people donate blood. Now that the days are getting shorter and the temperatures are dropping, it may be harder to get up and go to donate blood. But to ensure there is no shortage of life-saving blood supplies, blood donations are essential. The German Red Cross is therefore calling for blood donations in the autumn.

There are several dates to choose from throughout the Kleve district: on Monday, October 21st, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Lindenschule, Motenhof 10, in Haldern; on Tuesday, October 22nd, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the House of Associations, An der Dorfwiese 14, in Pont; on Wednesday, October 23rd, from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., in the community center, Dorfstraße 55, in Sevelen; also on Wednesday, October 23rd, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the Martinus School, Meisterweg 6, in Rheurdt; on Thursday, October 24th, from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., in the Catholic parish hall, Walbecker Markt 4, in Walbeck; on Friday, October 25th, from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Protestant community center, Hansastraße 5, in Emmerich; on Wednesday, October 30th, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., in the Katharinen School, Fontanestraße 4, in Straelen.

The DRK asks that you reserve an appointment in advance. Anyone who books a blood donation time at www.blutspende.jetzt or on the DRK blood donation service hotline on 0800 1194911 can come by without waiting. Anyone who wants to donate blood must be at least 18 years old and feel healthy. There is no longer an upper age limit. Please be sure to bring your ID card or driver’s license with you to your blood donation appointment. The actual blood donation takes around five to ten minutes. Then you lie down and relax for another ten minutes. At the end there is a delicious snack.

Anyone who is unsure whether they are allowed to donate blood – for example because they are taking certain medications – can inquire in advance free of charge by calling the DRK blood donation service hotline on 0800 1194911. At www.blutspende.jetzt you can find an uncomplicated online check, which can also be used to test whether blood donation is possible.
