Driving rain expected: – Will be quite fierce

Heavy rain showers are expected in several places in the country on Tuesday afternoon and evening.

– There will be greater amounts of precipitation in the next few days. Danger warnings have been issued for both torrential rain and landslides, so it could be a bit of a difficult week, says meteorologist on duty Martin Pecnjak in StormGeo to TV 2.

This is where it gets most intense

He says that the storm will stick to Western Norway, Trøndelag and Nordland, and that there may be short periods of gales throughout the week.

– Today it will be quite intense in Western Norway and in Trøndelag. According to the latest forecasts, there could be 40 to 60 mm of precipitation in Western Norway throughout the day today, says Pecnjak.

It will not be as intense in the rest of the country.

– But further south in Vest-Agder there can also be up to 40 mm of rain during the afternoon, says Pecnjak.

On Wednesday, it also looks like there will be large amounts of precipitation. Troms and Finnmark will get scattered rain showers over the next few days.

After that, the stormy weather calms down somewhat later in the week.

– From Thursday it won’t be as violent. On Friday and Saturday, however, there will again be heavy rain showers, especially in the north and in Western Norway. On Saturday, Nordland and Trøndelag will experience 50-60 mm of precipitation, says Pecnjak.

This weekend’s weather winner

The meteorologist states that it is primarily Eastern Norway that will have good weather until the weekend.

– It will be around 22-23 degrees here. Østafjells will have far better weather than the rest of the country in the next few days, says Pecnjak.

However, it does not remain completely cloud-free.

– It will rain on Thursday in Østafjells, but not in large quantities, continues Pecnjak.

Good news

In contrast, better weather days are expected across the country for next week.

– It is quite likely that a strong high pressure will move into Scandinavia into next week, and there will be a couple of days of lighter weather, more sun and higher temperatures, says Pecnjak.

The fine weather will look forward across the country.

– So next week will be much better than the weather we are getting in the next few days now, the meteorologist can say.
