Jakarta –
There are several driving habits that cause tires to wear out quickly, resulting in a short life. Here’s an explanation.
Tires have a vital role in driving. Compared to other components, tires are in direct contact with the road and keep the car moving. For this reason, tires need extra attention, including from a maintenance standpoint, it should be routinely carried out. Equally important, there are some driving habits that make tires short-lived.
So, here are some driving behaviors that shorten tire life, as explained by Bridgestone.
1. Beat Potholes
Driving on potholed roads or those whose surface is not smooth should be done with caution. Avoid hitting potholes as this can throw the wheels out of alignment. The vehicle’s suspension work system also has the potential to be excessive, causing tires to wear out faster.
Likewise when crossing in bad weather, you should not need to speed. When driving in bad weather, tires have the potential to wear out faster because they work extra to maintain traction.
2. Drive Aggressively
Aggressive driving habits also wear out tires quickly. Avoid driving as hard cornering, fast acceleration and sudden braking can increase tire pressure tremendously. It also triggers tire wear quickly. For that you should avoid aggressive driving.
3. Rarely treated
Tires must be maintained regularly. The intended maintenance includes checking the condition, maintaining the air pressure according to the recommendations, and keeping the tires straight. You can also do tire rotation so that the conditions are more even. Lack of maintenance can make tires wear out quickly and shorten their life.
Tires actually do not have a certain age. But at least the driver can prevent unwanted things and maximize tire life.
“Tires that are no longer good have a greater risk of accidents. However, there are a number of things that vehicle owners or users can pay attention to to ensure that the tires they use are still in a safe condition to use,” said Deputy Head of Original Equipment (OE) Bridgestone Indonesia Fisa Rizqiano in his press release.
