Driving an Electric Car: Achieving the Same Convenience as an Internal Combustion Car

Imagine you’ve gone on a long drive in an electric car. Of course, you don’t want to worry about getting to the station in time to charge your battery. You just want to drive and take a break when it’s time to stretch those tight muscles, have a coffee or something to eat. In other words, you want everything to be exactly the same as driving an internal combustion car. Is it possible?

Drivers with experience claim that it is real, however – not yet with all electric cars. On the other hand, fortunately, there are more and more vehicles that do not require a change in habits. But there is one more thing – this is a good time for potential buyers of environmentally friendly cars to seriously evaluate how often they will need to drive without stopping for three, four or more hours on the highway and how much time they now spend at gas stations and restaurants.

You practically don’t have to adjust your habits anymore

The electric car portal “Evcentral” conducted an experiment – recorded how long it takes to fill a battery with a certain amount of energy under real conditions. In addition, the researchers also documented the charging capacity. In almost all cases, they found that it was impossible to achieve the maximum value specified by the manufacturer in the DC station. And yet – some results were quite impressive.

For example, the mid-range Hyundai Ioniq 5 effortlessly achieved 225 kW of instantaneous charging power during the test, and the entire charging process took place at an impressive 186 kW average power. In this way, filling from 30 to 80 percent lasted alone
