Until recently, a joint venture between Daimler and the Russian Kamaz in Naberezhnye Chelny was engaged in SKD assembly of Mercedes-Benz and Mitsubishi Fuso trucks. And 10 years after its creation, Daimler Kamaz Rus opened its own plant for the production of cabin frames in May 2019, reaching a new level of localization. The plant can make 50,000 cabins a year, but in the coming years, JV CEO Andreas Douschle expects 20,000-30,000. In the next two years, the JV will focus on finding Russian suppliers of small and medium-sized parts for its trucks.

Douschle does not predict how the sales of the trucks themselves will increase, but at the end of this year, he certainly does not expect growth due to the pandemic and the suspension of the assembly of Fuso since last autumn (the restart of Fuso production will take place in a few weeks). The fall in sales in the sector of trucks, in his opinion, may reach 10%, and cars of European brands even 20%.
