Car owners should be prepared to pay extra for his insurance in the coming months. The lack of spare parts, high inflation, but above all constant technological progress are to blame. In addition, experts assume that insurance should continue to grow next year.
Compulsory liability, accident insurance, glass insurance, accident insurance and / or natural disaster insurance. All drivers will have to reach deeper into their pockets. “About 7 to 10 percent this year. And also about the same amount will increase next year,” said economist Lukáš Kovanda.
This means that a person who currently pays compulsory insurance in the amount of five thousand crowns will pay extra in the near future. And even five hundred.
“Over the last 10 years, the average damage has increased by 10,000 crowns. The payment is still increasing, we will have to increase premium rates. We will not adjust it across the board, drivers in risk groups will always pay more,” said Kooperativa insurance company spokesman Martin Káňa.
These include, for example, drivers who have already had several accidents, young people or pensioners. By contrast, drivers in their forties are the least risky group and have the cheapest compulsory insurance.
“As premiums increase, premiums increase accordingly. This trend is not limited to new contracts; we constantly point out that updating premiums is also needed for existing insurance contracts and for clients to keep this in mind,” she said. UNIQA spokeswoman Eva Svobodová.
“An example from practice. I can speak for one of our clients with a Škoda Octavia with a two-liter engine. There, premiums rose by about five percent in May compared to January,” added RIXO Product and Technology Director Martin Ždímal.
Behind the rise in price is not only the current long-term crisis, which began with the covid epidemic, but also the technological sophistication of cars. “Increasing the equipment of cars, because they are getting better and better, must meet the emission standards and also general inflation, because in those services they have to pay higher energy bills or also give car mechanics higher wages,” Kovanda concluded.
On average, people in the Czech Republic pay six and a half thousand crowns a year for compulsory insurance.
