The 43-year-old man, seriously injured by firearm in Lamentin, during an altercation following a road accident, died of his injuries this Saturday morning (May 21, 2022) in hospital. This is the ninth homicide of the year in Martinique.
The man injured by a firearm on Saturday morning (May 21, 2022), around 3 a.m., Four à Chaux district in Le Lamentin, died of his injuries, in the emergency room of the Pierre Zobda Quitman hospital in Fort-de-France, around 4:30 am, confirms the police.
The 43-year-old victim is driving a vehicle, with her friend by her side. The two are returning from a party when an accident occurs with another driver’s vehicle.
The tone rises, invectives are heard from both sides, then one of the drivers grabs a firearm, shoots and injures the victim.
At this stage, the police, who found several bullet casings at the scene, did not yet know if there had been an exchange of gunfire.
With this new case, it is the 9th homicide of the year in Martinique, including 5 in the police zone (Fort-de-France and Lamentin). The police who intervene almost every evening for attempted homicide…by firearm.
