Five months after a targeted drive into a group of people in Düsseldorf, the Düsseldorf Regional Court sentenced the accused driver to five years in prison. The court found the 38-year-old guilty of attempted manslaughter and dangerous bodily harm.
The 1st Criminal Chamber thus remained under the seven years of imprisonment demanded by the public prosecutor. The presiding judge, Rainer Drees, credited the 38-year-old Serb with finally confessing. The father of four admitted that on the night of November 5, 2022, in front of an event hall in Düsseldorf, after a mass brawl, he had driven his car into the opposing group. Six men were injured at the time. Three others were able to save themselves.
The accused initially stated to the police that after the dispute he got into his car and drove home to Leverkusen. He did not notice the collision and the people on his bonnet.
