A truck drove into a house in Maarheeze this afternoon. The driver was trapped for some time, but was freed by the fire brigade and ambulance service. He was taken to hospital with unknown injuries.

The residents of the rammed house escaped with a fright, but part of a wall of the house is out.

A resident of the house tells Broadcasting Brabant that his wife and two children were at home when the accident happened. He says that the wood stove shot through the impact against the playpen, where a baby was lying. He declined to comment further.

A local resident tells the regional broadcaster that she had spoken briefly to the affected family. “They are especially happy that they and their two young children have nothing. They were at home and they literally had to get the children out of the mess. I understand that they are completely upset,” says the woman. “The mother was in the living room with her two children. They were quite shocked.”

The truck will remain in the house for a while, until the house has completely stabilized. A specialist team of the fire brigade is working to install an emergency facility at the house. In this way, part of the house must be prevented from collapsing. The residents cannot sleep at home for the time being.

The accident happened around 3 p.m. on Stationsstraat. It is unknown what caused the accident.
