At around 5.30 p.m., a 33-year-old woman was driving her Opel down Karlstrasse. At the intersection with König-Wilhelm-Strasse, she stopped at a red light. At the same time, a 46-year-old Fiat driver was reversing out of a parking space on the opposite side of the street. He hit the front of the Opel twice with the rear of his car.
Driver can stop fleeing accident perpetrator
Although witnesses knocked on the window of the Fiat, he drove off in the direction of König-Wilhelm-Straße. A 48-year-old driver then pursued the fugitive. The witness caught up with the 46-year-old and was apparently able to convince him to return to the scene of the accident. When officers recorded the accident, they noticed a strong smell of alcohol on the 46-year-old.
Surprise during the alcohol test
According to the police, an alcohol test showed a blood alcohol level of over four per mille. The officers also discovered that the 46-year-old did not have a driver’s license. The 46-year-old had to leave his car and go to the police station. There, a doctor took a blood sample from him. The man is now facing charges. Ulm police estimate the damage to the Opel at 200 euros.
