NEW YORK – A driver allegedly responsible for the death of a pedestrian in East Harlem fled after hitting the victim, a Hispanic man, after losing control of the car and flipping over early Saturday morning, New City Police said. York.
The fatal accident occurred near the corner of 110th Street and Third Avenue, around 12:30 am, the uniformed officer said Saturday.
Authorities say the driver allegedly after hitting the victim, who was apparently on his way home, continued to drive and between 110th and 115th streets lost control of the white sedan and rolled over.
At that time the driver apparently abandoned the car and fled the scene on foot.
Police say the victim died at the scene and was identified as Manuel José Enealada-Villa, 52, of East Harlem.
Police did not release information about the suspect, but the investigation is ongoing.
