The municipal police stopped the Val Marie loop car in Thionville, opposite the Wasabi Bambou restaurant. The driver was not wearing a seat belt. He was fined. The report dates from August 2022 but it has still not been paid. The driver disputes this. He believes that it was not in circulation, therefore not in violation.
The 33-year-old self-employed craftsman hired a lawyer to defend him before the police court at the end of April. The council denounces an excessively rigorous application of the law. “My client was leaving the restaurant, he was in the parking lot, he had his belt in his hand,” he continues. The lawyer does not see the interest of these lawsuits, nor the danger that the defendant could have represented for society.

The assistant to the police commissioner, an officer of the public prosecutor’s office, depicts the defendant’s profile in a few figures: “Mr. speed, a criminal blood alcohol level… He does not learn and refuses to understand. The court moderates the amount of the required fine but orders the driver to pay a fine of 200 euros. He will also not be exempt from the withdrawal of points provided for by the Highway Code.
