Driver dies after collision at Bellevue – call for witnesses

At about 5.30 p.m. a man drove alone with his vehicle on the Utoquai in the direction of town. Shortly before the Bellevue, for unknown reasons, he got onto the sidewalk at Sechseläutenplatz, then drove back onto the street, collided with a car that was waiting in front of the light signal there and then tipped over to the side. Despite resuscitation measures initiated immediately by the deployed emergency services and then by an emergency doctor and paramedic from Schutz & Rettung Zürich, the driver unfortunately died on site. The driver of the vehicle waiting at the red light was also injured by the collision and had to be brought to the hospital in an additional ambulance. The vehicle lying on its side was secured by the professional fire brigade from Schutz & Rettung Zürich. The cause of the accident is unclear and is now being clarified by the Zurich City Police. The cause of death is being investigated by the Institute for Forensic Medicine.
