Driver Arrested in Algeciras for Multiple Traffic Violations

The Local Police of Algeciras has arrested a driver who lacked any type of driving permit or license and who was also driving a car without mandatory insurance and without having passed the technical inspection of the vehicle.

Agents from the Operational Response Unit (URO) of the local force observed the driver while he was traveling on Salvador Allende Street, when he parked his vehicle, a Ford Mondeo, on the sidewalk. When they proceeded to report him for the traffic violation committed, parking in a pedestrian zone, they found that the driver, 36 years old, had never obtained any type of permit or driver’s license, so he was committing a crime against road safety.

The agents also verified that the vehicle had not undergone the periodic technical inspection and that it lacked the mandatory insurance, so they proceeded to transport it with the tow truck service to the municipal warehouse, where it was intervened.

After carrying out the corresponding judicial proceedings in the Department of Reports of the Local Police for the commission of the crime against road safety, the driver was reported for the administrative traffic violations that he had committed, that is, driving without mandatory insurance, which entails fine of 1,500 euros, driving without a license, with a fine of 500 euros, not having submitted to the ITV, which entails another fine of 200 euros, and parking on the sidewalk, which is penalized with another 200 euros.

In addition, the owner of the vehicle will have to prove that he or she has taken out mandatory insurance prior to its removal from the municipal depot, as well as pay the fee corresponding to the performance of the municipal tow truck service.
