“Driver Arrested for Attack on White House Security Barriers in Washington DC”

Washington police have arrested the driver of a truck that drove into security barriers at the White House. That happened last night, local time. According to local authorities, the initial investigation indicates that there may have been foul play.

Footage shows the large delivery van in Lafayette Square stopping against a row of bollards, backing up and crashing into the bollards again. Witnesses testify against the television channel WUSA that the man drove into the barriers at least twice.

After the impact, the tailgate of the truck would have opened. It is not known if the driver had any weapons on him. There is, however, images from the Reuters news agency to see a police officer remove a Nazi flag from the bus and place it on the street.

No one was injured. The van has been declared safe. However, roads and footpaths around it were closed and guests of a nearby hotel were evacuated.
