The pursuit, which involved nearly a dozen patrol vehicles from multiple agencies, came to an end when the suspect was boxed in by authorities on a dead-end street in South El Monte.

The incident began shortly before 7 a.m. when the driver, who remains unidentified, entered the southbound 710 Freeway and eventually made his way onto surface streets in the South Gate area. Law enforcement agencies quickly initiated the chase, with patrol vehicles from various departments joining in the pursuit.

As the chase progressed, the suspect entered a residential neighborhood in Montebello, where authorities on the ground decided to briefly back off and switch to surveillance mode from overhead. The driver continued at slow speeds, seemingly unaware that he was being monitored.

Surprisingly, no law enforcement vehicles were seen behind the suspect as he made his way into the Rosemead area. It was during this time that the driver parked the stolen car in the parking lot of a Walmart and approached the store’s entrance. However, he soon realized that the store was closed and quickly returned to the vehicle.

Despite the arrival of patrol vehicles, the suspect managed to maneuver his way out of the parking lot and continued his attempt to evade capture. However, his luck ran out when he drove onto a dead-end street near the 1400 block of Chico Avenue in South El Monte. Authorities swiftly surrounded the stolen car, leaving the driver with no escape route.

Realizing the futility of his situation, the suspect exited the vehicle and raised his hands in surrender. Law enforcement officers quickly moved in and took him into custody without incident.

According to a spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the stolen car had been reported in Pico Rivera. However, no further details about the theft were immediately available.
