The research found that drinking five or more sugary drinks a week increased the risk of dying from any cause by 62%.
Enter24.com.- A study from the University of Buffalo, United States, determined that women who abuse the consumption of sugary drinks have a higher risk of dying from any cause, and especially from breast cancer.
The research found that drinking five or more sugary drinks a week increased the risk of dying from any cause by 62% and the chance of dying from breast cancer by up to 85%.
To determine this, 927 women between the ages of 35 and 79 who had been diagnosed with breast cancer and filled out questionnaires about their diet. Therefore, they believe that it is very important to make dietary recommendations for patients with breast tumors.
Nadia Koyratty, lead author of the study, explained that “non-diet sodas are the ones that contribute the most sugar and additional calories to the diet, but they do not contribute anything else that is beneficial from a nutritional point of view. On the other hand, 100% fruit teas, coffees and juices, unless sugars are added, are healthier beverage options because they add nutritional value through antioxidants and vitamins ”.
