A drilled well at the Geothermal Power Plant (PLTP) Geo Dipa in the Dieng area, Banjarnegara Regency, Central Java exploded. Dozens of employees were rushed to the hospital suspected of having poisoning.
According to residents, this incident occurred at around 16.30 WIB when hundreds of Geodipa’s employees suddenly seemed to scatter outside, most of them experiencing shortness of breath.
“It was around 16.30 in the afternoon. If I saw the employees were scattering out and many were short of breath,” said Yeyen, one of the residents, Saturday (12/3).
Puji, one of the residents who tried to evacuate his younger brother who works at Geodipa, said that seven people with severe shortness of breath were rushed to the nearest Puskesmas.
“Earlier, I received news that I was going to pick up my sister to help. There was a time when seven people had severe shortness of breath,” he said.
A number of employees who were poisoned were rushed to the Kejajar 1 and Kejajar 2 Health Centers to get help. Information obtained CNNIndonesia.comone employee is thought to have died from gas poisoning.
The Banjarnegara Police Chief, AKBP Hendri Yulianto, who was confirmed to be still in the field to divide the duties of the ranks at the Puskesmas and TKP.
“We are still in the field doing the handling, we can’t report anything yet. What is certain is that the conditions in the field have gradually recovered,” said Hendri.
