Drifts up to 1 meter. Snow fell in the Carpathians and frost hit -5 degrees

Winter came to the mountain Pop Ivan Chernogorsky earlier, ruining the weather conditions for the rescuers.

On November 20, the weather in the Carpathians deteriorated sharply due to snow and cold snap. Montenegrin mountain search and rescue post reported on the situation on the page in Facebook.

According to the rescuers, at 11:45 a.m. Mount Pop Ivan Chernogorskiy froze down to -5 degrees Celsius, and on the northern slope the wind poured snowdrifts up to 1 meter high. Due to snowfall and strong westerly winds up to 8 m / s, visibility is limited to 50 meters.

Before that, snow fell on Mount Pop Ivan 12 october at a temperature of -1 degrees. Then the rescuers also showed a photograph showing the White Elephant Observatory and strong clouds. After that, the weather was mostly clear.

Mount Pop Ivan, also called Black Mountain, is one of the highest in the ridge of the Ukrainian Carpathians, its peak rises to 2028 meters. It is located in the southern part of the Chornohora massif, located on the border of Ivano-Frankivsk and Transcarpathian regions. The mountain gets its name from the Romanian word popina, meaning the highest peak.

At the very top are the ruins of the Polish Astronomical and Meteorological Observatory, which was partially reconstructed for tourists and named “White Elephant”. The Montenegrin search and rescue post is also located there.

Previously Mayor Vitali Klitschko warned of rolling blackouts in Kiev due to frost… According to him, the enterprises producing heat and electricity do not have enough fuel (gas and coal). Kievans may find themselves without light if the cold weather lingers for a long time.

Before the staff of the mountain resorts of Ukraine told when the skiers were expected. In Bukovel, snow already fell in October, but quickly melted. A similar situation is observed at Dragobrat, in Slavskoe, Sinyaki and other popular recreation areas.
