Dries Mertens participated with an assist in Galatasaray’s victory at Alanyaspor (0-4) as part of the 32nd day of Super Lig, Monday. Galatasaray thus takes the lead in the ranking in Turkey with 87 points, ahead of its eternal rival, Fenerbahçe (85 points).
Fenerbahçe won on Sunday away to Karagumruk (1-2), with a goal from Michy Batshuayi in particular. Galatasaray, however, did not tremble under the pressure of its competitor and progressed in the second period thanks to a double from Baris Yilmaz (56th, 72nd), a goal from Ziyech (61st) and an achievement from Icardi (83rd). For the hosts, Leroy Fer was sent off for a second yellow card in the 64th minute.
Mertens started as playmaker, and he gave the final pass to Ziyech before the latter placed a long-range shot into the far corner. The former Red Devil played the entire match.
In Italy, Koni De Winter’s Genoa shared the stakes with Fiorentina (1-1) for the 32nd day of Serie A. As usual, the young international was the starter in the Genoese defense and he played the entire match.
Albert Gudmundsson opened the scoring in favor of Genoa on a penalty (42nd), but Jonathan Ikone tied the teams in the second period (54th).
In the standings, Genoa is 12th with 39 points. La Viola is in 10th place with 44 units.
