Drew Barrymore’s alleged stalker was arrested outside his Long Island home, two days after he interrupted her on stage.
A man accused of stalking actress Drew Barrymore was arrested and charged Thursday night, police say.
Chad Michael Busto, 43, of Washington DC, was arrested at 11:59 p.m. Thursday, Southampton City Police said.
Southampton Police patrol officers had already made contact with Chad Busto while investigating a 911 call to a “suspicious person” on Wednesday afternoon, police said.
The man was located in the village of Sagaponack, police said. He had cycled into private driveways and told locals he was looking for Drew Barrymore’s residence, police said.
This is the second time that the man has attacked the actress. Indeed, Drew Barrymore was being interviewed by singer Renée Rapp in Manhattan on Monday night when the man rushed to the stage shouting, “Drew Barrymore! I’m Chad Michael Busto. You know who I am. I need to see you at some point while you’re in New York…”
Security quickly blocked the man and led him away while Renée Rapp immediately stood up and guided the “ET” star off stage. An act of “protection” which aroused the gratitude of the actress. “He was a real ‘Bodyguard’. You’re my Kevin Costner,” she joked.
A NYPD spokesperson said police have not received a complaint about the incident. After this story, Chad Busto’s previous criminal arrests came to light, along with his alleged stalking behavior against actress Amber Heard.
