Actor Drew Barrymore (46) has previously been open about drug abuse and a troubled childhood in the spotlight.
She was only seven years old when she broke through in the film classic «ET». It would only take five years before she struggled major alcohol and drug problems. She has explained that she was completely out of control, and was forcibly admitted to detox at the age of 14.
Spicy revelation after 22 years
However, Barrymore has recovered, and has had success on the front and back of the camera, and also in private life. She has two children with her ex-husband Will Kopelman (42) – Olive (7) and Frankie (6).
Last week she was a guest in «CBS This Morning», where she among other things talked about her relationship with alcohol.
– I will say something for the first time in a long time – I have not had a drink with alcohol in two and a half years, she says, and explains:
– It was something I realized did not do any good for me and my life.

Furthermore, the 46-year-old says that she has not said anything before because she wanted to keep the trip private until now.
– Now that it has been so long, I know that I have a lifestyle that really works in the long run, and I find so much peace where there used to be demons, she says.

Barrymore has now starred in over 50 films, and is happy that she has shared her story. She has also previously explained that she is open with the children about the problems she went through as a young person.
– I want to tell the children about my past. I will not pretend to have always been innocent, she said in 2015.
– Completely out of control
In the past, she has also claimed that the drug abuse did that she was blacklisted by Hollywood, and that to this day she notices the ripple effects of it. She is having great success with the talk show “The Drew Barrymore Show”, where she has celebrities as guests.
– I am honored by everyone who wants to come to my show. I’m not an arrogant person. I have been in this industry all my life, but I am just as excited to be around profiled people as everyone else would be, she said last year.
