Drew Barrymore’s (45) childhood was anything but the same as that of an average child. As a baby she had her first advertising role and at the age of 7 she already made her debut on the silver screen. But then it went wrong, when she became addicted as a young teenager. That’s why she’s happy that things turned out okay in the end and she appreciates everything that comes her way, Barrymore tells The Sun.

“I don’t know how I got here, but I’ll never forget how lucky I was,” said Drew. “Since I was blacklisted when I was 12, I now appreciate every role I get.”

Drew started drinking at the age of eleven and started taking drugs a year later. That did not go well with the film bosses, who therefore banned her. “When they found out, they wrote me off and labeled me ‘damaged’. I understood that, unfortunately. ”

All in all, it turned out well for the actress who has a star on the famous Hollywood Walk of Fame. As a mother of two children, she therefore tries to teach her offspring wise lessons from the past. “I’m struggling, and one of the most important things I want to teach my kids – and myself – is that change is so important. Change in the world and change in yourself. ”
