“Mazzarri was fired”, this is the title that we find this morning in the columns of The Sardinian Union. The newspaper reveals the background that led Cagliari to change the technical guide. The separation was not painless, on the contrary: the technician would have been fired. The causes that led to this decision the president Giulini – we read – are to be found in the behavior of the coach who allegedly insulted the team and president Giulini himself. “Dressing room of worms”this is the offending sentence, it remains to be understood whether these episodes occurred in presence, or in a hard face to face with the players and subsequently with Giulini, or if the sentences uttered by Mazzari were referred to the directly concerned.
Fired, not exonerated
The Sardinian newspaper speaks of dismissal and not of exemption. And the difference is substantial. In the event of exemption, in fact, the club must pay the technician up to the last euro up to the last day of the contract: in this case we are talking about a figure of around 5 million, i.e. Mazzarri’s contract until 30 June 2024 plus the penalty. provided for in case of exemption. With the dismissal, however, the club owes nothing to the coach, indeed, it could even ask the employee for damage to image.
