On Saturday, July 2, four players from SC Opel Rüsselsheim, which has recently been promoted to the regional league, have the opportunity to become German university champions, playing for different teams: Angela Fedel (Mainz), Pavlina Kodrou (Frankfurt) as well as Selena Botthof and Carina Jager ( Marburg). In addition, there is Stefan Diehl, the coach of the women’s soccer team at SC Opel, because he also coaches the university representatives from Mainz.
On Saturday, July 2, the German University Championships of the General University Sports Association (adh) in women’s football (small field) will be held on the two artificial turf pitches of SC Opel Rüsselsheim. The tournament is organized by the university sports department of the RheinMain University of Applied Sciences (HSRM), which also has a branch in Rüsselsheim am Main. The game starts at 9 a.m. in four groups of three teams each. University teams from Ausgsburg, Bayreuth, Darmstadt, Dresden, Frankfurt am Main, Hanover, Heidelberg, Mainz, Marburg and Münster are taking part, with Mainz and Marburg starting with two teams. The playing time is 15 minutes twice.
The top two in each group will advance crosswise into the four quarter-finals, which will be played from 12 noon. The finalists will be determined in the semi-finals that follow. The final kicks off at 4 p.m. The award ceremony, which was also attended by HSRM President Prof. Dr. Eva Waller is expected, is scheduled for 4.45 p.m. SC Opel takes care of the organization and catering for the athletes. The SC Opel Rüsselsheim and the HSRM are cooperation partners.
