The Dresdner Eislöwen put an exclamation mark on that. The DEL2-Club won their own tournament for the So-geht-Sächsisch-Cup with 5: 3 (3: 3, 2: 0, 0: 0) against the Düsseldorfer EG.
At first it looked like a clear victory for the first division club from the Rhineland. After barely more than two minutes, the guests led 2-0 with goals from Jerry D’Amigo and Kyle Cumiskey; in the twelfth minute Cumiskey even increased to 3-0. But before the first break, Tomas Andres, David Rundqvist and Jordan Knackstedt equalized. After the break, Dresden put pressure and quickly scored the 4: 3 through Johan Porsberger. Matej Mrazek marked the final score in the 27th minute.
In the second semi-final, the Nürnberg Ice Tigers won 5: 2 (3: 0, 1: 1, 1: 1) against the Iserlohn Roosters. Chris Brown, Nicholas Welsh, Marko Friedrich, Charlie Jahnke and Patrick Reimer scored for the Franks, Travis Ewanyk and Kris Foucault for the Sauerland. On Sunday, Düsseldorf and Iserlohn face each other at 3 p.m. in the game for third place; Dresden and Nuremberg will contest the finals at 6.30 p.m.
