Dresden: Will Seestrasse between Altmarkt and Altmarkt-Galerie soon be car-free?

The city council is calling for Seestrasse between Altmarkt and Altmarkt-Galerie to become a pedestrian and pedestrian zone.

Dresden – Will the Seestrasse between the Altmarkt and Altmarkt-Galerie become a cycling and pedestrian zone? A large majority in the City District Advisory Board Altstadt wants to entrust the administration with an inspection order.

Since 2019, city district councils have more competencies, they can spend their own money and initiate assignments to the administration.

Left, Greens, CDU and SPD in the old town want to commission Mayor Dirk Hilbert (49, FDP) by resolution next Wednesday to work out a proposal “for prioritizing pedestrian and bicycle traffic on Seestrasse”.

A pedestrian zone free for cyclists is to be created between Wilsdruffer Straße and Kramergasse, and a play street between Kramergasse and Dr.-Külz-Ring.

In the course of the renovation of the old market, it should also be checked whether a height adjustment between market and Seestrasse can take place. This should enable barrier-free strolling without cars and curbs.

“I’m looking forward to the cycle route from southern Prager Straße to the Elbe,” says CDU city district adviser Lutz Hoffmann (38).
