Dresden – The steamer “Leipzig” (built in 1929) is ailing: Wednesday morning, the old lady was from the “Dresden” towed to the shipyard in Laubegast.

She should actually sail there on her own – for the ship’s MOT and for minor repairs. But at the start there was suddenly little pressure on the boiler.
“Then we noticed that water had leaked out of the boiler,” said Gerd-Rüdiger Degutsch (59), technical manager at the White Fleet. Quick action was required.
“The steamer ‘Dresden’ happened to be under steam,” says Degutsch. The shovels dismantled, the wheels blocked, shortly afterwards the “Leipzig” embarked in tow (on wires) with the “Dresden” from the terrace bank.

The trip up the river to the shipyard took around two hours. On December 20th, the “Leipzig” is supposed to be back on the Terrassenufer as planned. “I am optimistic that we can do it,” said captain Lutz Peschel (58).
The steamer “Dresden” will now be used more often. In the winter regular service (November 25th to December 19th) he steams regularly for the “castle trip” over the Elbe. The same applies here: 2G.

The new Corona requirements have given the White Fleet around ten percent cancellations so far. The “goose rides” starting today are taking place despite many cancellations.
