Dresden. The Bundesliga opener last Saturday was a special milestone for Dresdner SC, head coach Alexander Waibl and captain Jennifer Janiska. With the first home game of the 2023/24 season, Waibl played his 500th competitive game and Janiska her 100th competitive game for the Saxon Volleyball Bundesliga team.
Since Alexander Waibl has been at the helm of the DSC since 2009, he has had an impressive track record. He has now added another special accent to this. Under his leadership the club has achieved numerous successes. His commitment, his passion and his tactical skill have made the DSC one of the most successful clubs in the Volleyball Bundesliga.
DSC Manager Sandra Zimmermann has valued working with Alexander Waibl for over 14 years. “When I look back on the last 14 years, I feel great pride in having experienced and shaped this time together with Alex. His style and identification characterize our club and are exceptional. His 500 games are a testament to his excellence and his tireless dedication to our club.”
The 100th competitive game gave DSC captain Jennifer Janiska another goosebumps moment. When she moved to Dresden in 2020, many DSC supporters may have hoped to experience this moment, but no one could be sure. Jennifer Janiska is distinguished by her outstanding volleyball skills and a special personality. She is now bringing this into her fourth season at the DSC and most recently led the team to the championship title and Supercup victory in 2021. Her style on and off the field is inspiring to many and always gives volleyball fans special moments.
“JJ is an outstanding player and an important pillar in our team. Her 100 competitive games are proof of her identification with the DSC and of her hard work and determination. We are proud to have her in our ranks and look forward to many more great games with her,” says Sandra Zimmermann, describing the outside attacker.
