Dresden – The British telephone giant Vodafone is building a mobile communications development center in Dresden.
After talks with eight European cities, the decision was made for Saxony’s state capital. More than 200 jobs are to be created here.
Among other things, it is about digital applications for transport, agriculture, healthcare and buildings. The technology is initially being developed for the 5G mobile communications standard.
In addition, the competence center will deal with the 6th generation of mobile communications (6G). The development of this radio standard is still in its infancy.
In mobile communications, roughly speaking, a new standard is ready for the market every ten years.
