Dresden: Medical students oppose Corona demo Regional

Dresden – Medical students stood protectively in front of the Dresden University Hospital on Thursday, which was to be the target of a protest against the corona measures.

The students had lined up in white coats in front of the clinic. They carried signs with inscriptions such as “Vaccinate instead of scolding” and “No power to the ruthless.”

The police were on duty with a total of 1083 officers from the Saxon riot police, emergency services from Thuringia and the Federal Police. 200 officers alone were deployed to secure the hospital. Two water cannons and a Räumpanzer were also used.

Since Thursday evening, there has been a stir on social networks that the police also took the students’ personal details and surrounded the counter-demonstrators on Blasewitzer Straße, among other places, to determine their personal details. In total, the identities of 22 participants in the protest action were secured.

According to BILD information, however, Berlin riot police only enforced the Saxon Corona emergency ordinance, as student groups with more than ten people sometimes gathered. And that is still prohibited according to the regulation in Saxony.

The Dresden police denied media information that the emergency services were bothered by the white doctor’s coats worn by the students, among other things, and that they therefore violated the uniform ban.

BILD reporters observed that the officials addressed medical students in gowns and pointed out the 10-man rule. There was also a situation where Berlin officials surrounded medical students. And the officials didn’t make it easy for themselves. The forces discussed their course of action with the section head.

BILD listened. The result of the meeting: the rule is the rule, no matter what the purpose of the meeting is. The Saxon ordinance is enforced and personal details are recorded. Those affected would have the opportunity to express themselves through legal channels.

The protest against the Corona measures had been called for via the social networks. The situation remained largely calm.

“The planned larger walk could be prevented,” said the police. “We are constantly repositioning our responders and staying mobile to prevent a collective illegal elevator.”

The officials drew attention to the Saxon Corona Emergency Ordinance in loudspeaker announcements. Accordingly, only demonstrations with a maximum of ten participants are currently permitted.

Groups of up to 50 people kept gathering around the university hospital. They were asked by the police to move on. The personal details of some were identified.

“Later, police officers found several groups in the city area, including on Fetscherstraße, Stübelallee, Georgplatz and Pirnaischer Platz. When the emergency services arrived, they partially broke up, but then quickly got back together,” said police spokesman Marko Laske on Thursday evening.
