Dresden handball second division team EHV Aue clearly lost the Saxony duel at HC Elbflorenz in Dresden on Saturday. The bottom of the table lost 29:39 (13:16) in the state capital in front of 2,700 spectators.
EHV Aue initially got into the game well in front of a sold-out crowd. After 5 minutes it was 4:4. Even though the hosts then presented, the guests were able to hang on and equalize to 8:8. Things remained open until the 20th minute (11:10/20th). Then the team from Dresden moved ahead to 13:10 and took the advantage into the locker room. “We did quite well in the first 30 minutes. But our big problem was exploiting our chances,” said EHV manager Rüdiger Jurke at half-time. After the restart, the home team was able to pull away further in the ball sports arena not far from the banks of the Elbe and were 22:16 ahead after 38 minutes. But then the game blew up in the faces of the EHV players. In the middle of the second half, the HCE led 29:17 and had long since tied the bag at 33:22 in the 52nd minute. “The first half was okay, we can push the second half into the skat. As close as we were to Dresden in the first half, we were as far away in the second half,” summarized Jurke. (kbe)
