After a year, the series Photos of the Year is coming back to Aktuálně.cz. It presents the best images of photographers whose work you can meet not only on the pages of this website, but also in other titles of the Economia publishing house. We decided not to start with news photos this year and to honor their atmosphere during the Christmas holidays. So the first part brings beautiful and peaceful photographs of Prague by Radoslav Vnenčák.
(Part 1 of the series) – The Top Photo series, this year under the new name Photos of the Year, in previous years usually started with the best Zravodaj photographs created for Aktuálně.cz, Hospodářské noviny, the weekly Ekonom and other projects of the Economia publishing house. However, due to the tragic events at Charles University that took place just before Christmas, we have decided that during the Christmas holidays we will honor their peaceful atmosphere and will not introduce pictures of suffering and negative events into it in the annual photo galleries. Therefore, the series begins with beautiful and quiet photographs of Prague by Aktuálně,cz collaborator Radoslav Vnenčák.
We will bring you the best news pictures after the holidays. The goal of the Photos of the Year series is not only to commemorate the interesting events of the year, but also to appreciate the work of photographers and to show how excellent images they create during one year. Photographers have a completely free hand when choosing them, it is their author’s choice.
“The year 2023 was challenging and at the same time very beautiful for me in terms of photography,” says the author of today’s selection, Radoslav Vnenčák. In addition to Aktuálně.cz, it also cooperates, for example, with the National Theatre, the National Museum or the Transport Company of the Capital City of Prague and other institutions. “In addition to working on the calendar for the Capital City of Prague, perhaps the greatest joy was that I was invited as a photographer to collaborate in the creation of new websites for the metropolis,” he says.
Although he has been photographing Prague for a long time, he still likes to look for new places and hitherto undiscovered points of view. “Prague has become a very personal thing for me, and over the past few years I’ve learned to perceive it as a whole, but also in every detail,” he explains.
“As I like to say myself, I look forward to Prague in spring, I enjoy Prague in summer, Prague in autumn fascinates me and I’m impatiently waiting for Prague in the snow,” he adds.
